Melted Crayon Easter Eggs ~ How to dye your eggs with melted crayons
If you are looking for a fun new way to dye your Easter eggs this year, then give this a try. The BOLD, Bright colors will have your little ones giggling. Perfect for kids who like to draw or do craft projects.
All you need to make these bright colored eggs is:
- Hard Boiled Eggs (still hot)
- Crayola Crayons
- Towel
- Egg carton
Cook your eggs. Cover with water, bring to a boil. Boil with the lid on for 3 minutes. Take off heat, keep the lid on and let stand in the hot water for 10 minutes. Drain off the hot water. Use a towel to put the eggs into every other spot in an egg carton. I found it was best to space them so you do not bump them while coloring the eggs. I also put them on their side so it was easier to color them.
The eggs are HOT to be careful when doing this project with little children. All you have to do is touch the crayon to the hot egg and it melts on contact. It is more like painting the egg with wax. The melted max makes a BOLD beautiful color.
The hardest part is picking up the egg and turning it over so you can color on the other side. Best to have an adult do this, as the eggs are still hot. You can color designs on them, or just draw scribbles all over the egg…. they all turn out so fun!
Let the eggs set, once cooled the wax will harden and stay the same bright colors. Such a fun way to color or dye your easter eggs.
